Rough works better with Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion KitsMicrodermabrasion or skin buffing has become one of the most popular skin treatments that have trickled down from Hollywood into mainstream cosmetic treatments. Popularly known as skin buffing, this treatment is very effective in reduction of the various signs of aging, like wrinkles, blemishes, pigmentation etc.

The procedure involves abrading the skin using diamond crystals or any other abrasive crystals like aluminum oxide to remove the damaged skin and reveal the lower healthier skin. The procedure is a non surgical one and uses a rapidly rotating abrasive head that works with a crème based system which contains the abrasive crystals. The head scrubs the skin off and a vacuum based suction system cleans out the pores of the skin, removing excessive oil as well as any other dirt particles that can lead to acne problems.

Studies show that the greater the abrasive nature of the crystals and the rotating head the better are the results of this treatment. The basic reason for skin looking younger and feeling tighter after the treatment is the production of collagen in the skin after the procedure. When the skin is buffed using a strong abrasive agent the production of collagen is induced in the skin alongside other vital chemicals like cytokeratin 16, antimicrobial peptides apart from other substances that aid restructuring and healing of skin. Thus a stronger abrasive action stimulates the skin and its self healing property makes it look younger.

Apart from using a coarser grit, other factors like duration of the grit used on the skin and skin peeling agents used also play a vital role in the final results of the microdermabrasion treatment. The treatment although very effective in treating fine lines, pigmentation and blemishes, but it has its limitations. After all it’s a cosmetic treatment not a surgical one.

How The Microdermabrasion Machine Works

Dermabrasion Machine
Dermabrasion Machine
Microdermabrasion is the process of removal of the topmost dead and flaky skin using high speed scrubbing action with elements like organic crystals like aluminum oxide or using diamond flakes or tips. This system basically acts as a vacuum for the skin taking out the dead skin out and with it the fine lines and blemishes thus giving a younger looking skin after the treatment.

The machine used for Microdermabrasion consists of a rotating head which acts as the exfoliating agents making use of the crèmes which contain the organic crystals in case of organic crystal based systems while the tips are of diamond crystals in case of the diamond crystal based machines. The only difference between the two systems is the crystals used.

The basic advantage of using diamond based machine is the ease of maneuverability in sensitive regions like near the eyes and nasal openings as there are no risks of inhalation of the crystals as there are none present in the crème while in case of organic crystal based systems the crème contains the abrasive material which can easily get inhaled or get into the eyes if not dealt with care. Also the diamond Microdermabrasion machine is more effective due to the greater abrasive strength of the diamond crystal than its counterparts.

In addition to the rotating abrasive head a skin pore cleanser is also present in the machine to deep cleanse the skin pores and give a clean and glowing skin. After just a few minutes of using the treatment the skin is fresh and hydrated thus having a new like glow and a younger looking you.

The machines are easy to maintain and clean after use and have provided a revolutionary method to achieve a younger looking skin.
